Somebody should see the last page of today's NY Times. It's an ad by Samsung touting their flash drives for laptops and how they're more durable than hard drives. I am, however, still waiting for my flying car. All about it. (In Flash, of course!) Details. Lottsa blather on writing & rewriting.

Back in the day, I read a spread in Science on bubble memory and ran out and bought 30 shares of Texas Instruments convinced that it would be the next big thing. It wasn't, but Texas Instruments has done fairly well. Had I not read the other article on super computers and ran out and bought 100 shares of Cray Computers, I could almost talk up myself as a stock picker. Of course, had I just gone out and bought a hundred shares of Microsoft, I coulda retired by now...

Wine Wedges

Wine, Neither Shaken Nor Stirred

EVERY oenophile knows that wine bottles should be stored horizontally, because a moist cork helps prevent spoilage. A wine rack is the best way to achieve this ideal, but not every consumer has the space or cash for it. Many people instead create rickety bottle pyramids, which can collapse when jostled — an all-too-common occurrence when malbecs and rieslings are being quaffed in great quantity.

The Wedge is intended to make those pyramids as stable as the expensive racks. This minimalist product from Bluw, a London design firm, consists of a pair of curvy rubber strips, each six inches long. When tucked beneath the sides of a wine-bottle pyramid, they hug the glass and prevent any unwanted rolling. More

But, who ever stores wine anyway? Just pull their little corkses and drink 'em up.

One of Microsoft's polling people called this morning about an issue I am having with the beta OneCare -- which amongst other failings has decided it's expired...
1) The tech closed the issue when I foolishly asked about another issue
2) Neither the first issue nor the second issue has been resolved.
3) It's still not up there with my most famous Microsoft tech support email -- Wait, if you have not formatted your hard drive yet (as I tolld you to do as the only solution on the previous email), try this....
