Flash Drives -- Impossible!

Somebody should see the last page of today's NY Times. It's an ad by Samsung touting their flash drives for laptops and how they're more durable than hard drives. I am, however, still waiting for my flying car. All about it. (In Flash, of course!) Details. Lottsa blather on writing & rewriting.

Back in the day, I read a spread in Science on bubble memory and ran out and bought 30 shares of Texas Instruments convinced that it would be the next big thing. It wasn't, but Texas Instruments has done fairly well. Had I not read the other article on super computers and ran out and bought 100 shares of Cray Computers, I could almost talk up myself as a stock picker. Of course, had I just gone out and bought a hundred shares of Microsoft, I coulda retired by now...

I feel the need to come to the defense of FLASH. It's on both of the Mars Rovers, and doing quite nicely.

I always wondered how they worked. But, isn't he getting a little old for that? Or did you get that cute new actor from the Sci-Fi network? Arn't the residuals killing NASA?
