Thursday Morning
Feb. 9th, 2006 06:16 amThree of us are off to a Tulum this morning at 7:10. We're hoping they stop for something to eat because room service isn't open that early. We're going to be back by 1:30 or so, so it's not a long stop. Tulum is south of Cancun and south of Playa del Carmin.
I'm thinking of going into Cancun tonight or tomorrow night for one splurge. It's cheap on the bus to get there; not so cheap on a taxi. We priced out rental cars, but everybody's a bit leery of driving here. Leaving Playa del Carmin the other day reminded me a bit of Saigon, although everybody was in a car instead of a motorcycle. The intersections seemed to function by a similar hierarchy of size and time spent at it.
We spent much of the day yesterday at the pool. My application of sun screen left something to be desired and today my nose could fill in for Rudolph's. I've got a pump alcohol based one and apparently my aim and coverage isn't very good with my eyes closed. Splotchy would be a good description. Today I think the 45 lotion is in order.
