Dec. 21st, 2002 11:55 pmI upgraded Thong's compute today at General NanoSystems. I took it in because I wasn't certain that it would support a much faster chip. They upgraded the bios on the mother board and it booted right up with a 1 GHz chip in it. It's going to be a Christmas present.
After I got it home, I decided I just had to put the spare drives I'd pulled out of the other box in it. Then, when I had everything back together and hooked up, it wouldn't boot. Would not turn the fan. Nada.
About this point, I ran out to my aunt's, where I was scheduled to show up around sometime in the morning. My sister and I were going to check out a few nursing homes that she's interested in. Well, when we called, they didn't have much available other than 9-5 M-F.
I dashed back home around 4:00 to drag the computer back to General NanoSystems before they closed at 5:00. After a great deal of trying various things, he finally cleared out the bios and then the motherboard started. With the drives when he finally got the motherboard back in the case. Woohoo.
Going there and coming back from there, there seemed to be some huge traffic problem on 35W. Masterplan 1B was to swing past the MNSTF meeting, but I didn't make it.
I ended up back at my aunt's around 6:30 and cooked dinner. I left around 11:00 and worked on my Christmas cards a bit.
