I haven't seen this movie yet, but I've heard a similar criticism of this movie from leftists too.
The "noble savages" theme is a bit tired, and it is racist.
I don't know that this movie does it, but I do know that some of the other movies mentioned in the article, specifically "Pocahontas" and "Dances With Wolves" do fit the definition of the charmingly quaint and dignified conquered people.
