I haven't seen this movie yet, but I've heard a similar criticism of this movie from leftists too.

The "noble savages" theme is a bit tired, and it is racist.

I don't know that this movie does it, but I do know that some of the other movies mentioned in the article, specifically "Pocahontas" and "Dances With Wolves" do fit the definition of the charmingly quaint and dignified conquered people.

Is that the white male ends up as a blue alien, throwing away the (damaged) white male body -- a traitor to his species, race and world.

b) they ain't savages
c) they win

It's a bit like Glorious Basterds done with better visuals.
