Went out to my aunt's last night after waiting for Karen to show up and rescue her violet (which I left outside on the porch, but it was still here when I returned). Had to do some battery replacements. Her garage door openers had stopped working, and I pried one open, took it to the small hardware store close to her in Golden Valley, where they were out of the batteries. I also had her phone battery with me, and they didn't have that either.
Next door was a Radio Shack, which I figured was well worth the try. There was a cute young man in back of the counter, clothes horse type, who helped me, after looking all over for his battery tester which gave me ample opportunity to admire his pants. Garage door opener batteries (which they had) were still good, and they had a battery for the phone (marked down to $14.99 from $50). Went back, we ate, and I switched the garage door opener off of vacation where it had gotten after somebody hit the wrong button trying to close the door.
I also reversed the banister I'd put on flipped. Ran home around 9:00 and didn't do anything at all. Still tired from Sunday.

A fun visit to Radio Hack, it seems. I like it when the staff are pleasant and interesting (physically or otherwise), it makes shopping a pleasure. And I think there's a good feeling for both people when you get to work together on debugging a problem. So it makes working in retail more bearable. Being ogled by somebody nice usually doesn't hurt, either.

It does remind me of Bender's line in Futurama, "...I don't want anybody thinking we're robosexuals, so if anybody asks, you're my debugger."

When the new ones said "Lithium" on them, I knew the old ones should not be dead... He did blow the sale by checking the batteries, but still very nice guy.

When I worked a sales counter (cameras), we counted that kind of blown sale as an investment in future sales, figuring the customer was more likely to come back if we didn't sell him something he'd find out he didn't need when he got home.

Yeah, I know. I forgot, because I was rushed to pick everyone up.

Is it still on the porch?

Karen. [sorry; I just spaced it]

Are you sure it was his pants you were admiring?

Yup. The batteries in my X-Ray glasses I got from the back page of the comic book done wore down too.

And you'll just continue to believe those ads in the back of those comics won't you? (May I borrow the whoopee cushion?)
