I awoke early to go to the Minneapolis Farmer's Market. The website says that it opens at 6:00 am. Well, it does, just most of the vendors don't. Normally this would not be a problem, because I'd screw around, read the paper, drink coffee, eat, shower, and it would be 8:30 when I got there. What was there looked really good, but I went for broad beans, and what I did not find was broad beans. I've got raspberries, 2 leeks, four red peppers, and two bags o' baby potatoes.

But it was a subset of the weekend vendors. I didn't see any heirlooms, and I was uncertain of the provenance of some of the ones I did see. Definitely some local though.

Yes, I've found that to be true here, too.

Somehow I find this easier to forgive than when they close up shop 1-2 hours early (say, noon instead of 2:00) due to fewer customers.
