LP-to-MP3 Converter
The first of its kind, this belt-driven turntable plugs into your computer via USB, plays, converts, and saves your prized vinyl LPs to MP3 format for playback on an iPod, or other MP3 device, allowing you to take your favorite out-of-print music, comedy, and spoken-word recordings anywhere you go without risk. In addition to providing high-speed vinyl audio conversion to MP3, the turntable plays LPs at 3313 and 45 rpm speeds (adapter included), and its adjustable anti-skating control provides increased stereo balancing. My system is in storage right now, but I have my LPs.
This is not to say that it isn't simply a matter of using my computer as another tape deck and archiving stuff that way, but it does save space and makes for easier operation.

I'm going to assume they mean once the computer gets the signal it digitizes it very quickly.
Otherwise I can imagine a Chipmunk version of Doris Day doing "Que Sera Sera" resounding through my house.
