I picked

tammylc up at a traffic snarl at the University Radisson and, after some maneuvering, whisked her off to Emma's here in Beautiful South Mpls. We wuz early, so we decamped in the bar. She drank a mojito like concoction, and I drank red. We went over to the restaurant at eight to find

mizzlaurajean,

davidschroth, and Shaun unfanishly present.

We ordered mussels, shrimp, and a beet salad for 1sts. The mussels were wonderful and pretty much overshadowed the shrimp. Everything got eaten, and we wouldn't let the waitress pull the plates just in case we needed something for the bread.

We also ordered a bottle of Cotes du Rhone, which wasn't quite as pleasant as the Barbera I'd been tossing back in the bar, but still quite drinkable.

Shaun ordered my usual, the hanger steak. Tammy ordered the vanilla scented duck, as did I. Laura Jean ordered the pork tenderloin, and David had salmon. I was pleased with my duck, and much food was passed back and forth. The taro with the steak was popular.

For dessert, chocolate terrine, morello sorbet with brown sugar shortbread, rum panna cotta, caramelized apple pie, and no ice cream sundae. Because they wuz out o' ice cream. She brought us some extra shortbread cookies which resulted in some concealed cookies and fighting at the table -- she only brought four cookies, not five, but eventually everybody got a piece.

David and Laura Jean took Tammy back to a tour of Harriet Manor and back to the Radisson. I headed home and collapsed. Tonight: The Peninsula.
