We (mizzlaurajeanmizzlaurajean and davidschrothdavidschroth) feasted the Last Shrimp Truck of the year at the minnehahaminnehaha/s. Squash and sausage won tons with sage butter, Korean shrimp pancakes, soup with shrimp dumplings, pot stickers with shrimp, onion, lime & cilantro. (which could have used a bit more kick... my mixture). We fried them up, tossed in boiling water, covered 'em and served them. We took the left over shrimp and cooked them in the leftover sage butter. Just before serving, I tossed in some vermouth. Mary C, Will, Jen & baby made later showings. It was a great afternoon.

Other than that, I spent the morning trying to fix things. Ordered a part for the dishwasher door. One of the nylon rope spring thingies went out. And the kitchen faucet broke. I ran to Menards, but they said to call Moen... I did and they're sending the part. They'd send it for free, but like the faucet doesn't work, so I anted up $12 for overnight shipping. The dishwasher works, but it's got a power opening door right now...

Who made the Korean shrimp pancakes? I'd be grateful for the recipe if they turned out well, because so far I haven't been thrilled with any Korean pancake recipe I've tried.

Minnehaha K. makes them real tasty. They're a dinner favorite.

Yum.

Have you guys considered doing a Shrimp Truck recipe chapbook? (She asks selfishly, interested in a copy of her own as well as thinking what a keen gift it could make.) I wonder if the Shrimp Truck guys might be interested in such a thing as well.

My own kitchen adventures pale in comparison, but I did achieve reasonable success with the poached pears in caramel sauce yesterday. Must have had a good teacher....

We talked..

I suggested we do a best of the Shrimp Truck dinner book today.

The korean pancakes should definatly be in it.
Maybe next season we can figure that out.

I must have been in the kitchen during that conversation; I missed it.

Actually we were in the kitchen and you were elsewhere. What do you think of the idea?

I want to make the yummy soup I made when you two were in France and we had Shrimp Truck at David and Shannon's. Cause I think it could be in the book.

I think we should include some of the yummy salads and desserts we've had as well. The cucumber salad for sure.

How are you feeling?

I have intensely mixed feelings about giving out my recipes. One the one hand, no. On the other hand, mmmmm, maybe. I'm not sure why I feel this way, but I do. Who are we recording the recipes for, exactly? Ourselves? Sell copies to raise money for certain charitable causes?

I'm feeling OK. Minty. Better than this afternoon, I think, at least a little.

Oh I was just thinking for us really. I'm fine with sharing recipes but I can understand why some might not want too. I was thinking of a fun little momento of the best of recipes we've shared during all our fantastic shrimp dinners. Nothing to sell. Though I'm not opposed to it that just isn't what I was thinking. I'd give Geri a copy though :)

Thanks for the Vick's BTW. I do think it is helping some.
