Sen. Coleman's dad pleads guilty to sex charges
The misdemeanor charges will be dismissed in a year if Norman Coleman Sr. successfully completes probation.
Paul Gustafson, Star Tribune
Norm Coleman Sr., the father of U.S. Sen. Norm Coleman, pleaded guilty this afternoon to disorderly conduct in connection with charges this summer that he had sex in a vehicle outside a popular St. Paul pizzeria.
Coleman, 81, and Patrizia Marie Schrag, 38, both of St. Paul, each pleaded guilty to the same misdemeanor charge and were placed on probation for a year.
Ramsey County District Judge Kathleen Gearin ordered Coleman and Schrag each to work 24 hours of community service, pay a $50 fine and $28 in court costs, and to stay away from Red's Savoy Pizza and its parking lot for a year.
Lewd conduct charges against the two were dropped.
Gearin noted that the case, which drew national attention in July, was handled like any other similar misdemeanor case with first-time offenders.
