Dinner (Big pictures behind cut)
Fertility rite?
-OR-
How to thaw pie crust?

The Kitchen

You've heard of pork & beans? You oughta try shrimp and beans!

How to hold a high-level conference call... through a screen darkly

Pancakes anyone? Korean, of course.

WoW, these are really good!

Korean pancake closeup. Just like Vietnamese, only different.

Chipotle Pasta with, can you guess? -- crawfish!

Coconut? Yes, with fiddlehead. OK, the small plates wuz all in the dishwasher already.... Ubleck better batter

Morels sauted in butter (we'd used all the oil) with pretend shallots (onion and garlic), reduced vermouth, fresh cream, and seasoned with tarragon, lemon thyme and a large amount of lump crab. Served on top toasted challah. Just something buttonlassbuttonlass and I threw together in the kitchen.

Fertility rite result or pie? You be the judge.

Almost ready for consumption...

Ready, set, go!

Then there wuz vodka, Armagnac ancient and much wine.

Sorry, no pictures from the water tower hidden in the heights o' tangletown...

I'm hungry now and it's All Your Fault. Also, there are no shrimp in the house, which if I tried, I could probably also make your fault.

Seriously, looks tres yummy.

It shouldn't be too difficult to make it [livejournal.com profile] lsanderson's fault. It's clear that he didn't tell the shrimp truck to go through Seattle on its way back to Texas, thus depriving you of your opportunity to purchase shrimp.

My question is what to use when Morels aren't in season. White truffles perhaps ...

I can think of a bunch of options, depending on which way you want to take the dish.

I think either oyster or chantrelle mushrooms would be pretty damned good.

The company, I have to admit, looks more fun than the food--fun indeed! Thanks for the pix.

Us flatlanders get real excited when we eat anything that comes out of the sea.
