Hmm, the new Williams Sonoma catalog has a pasta roller and pasta cutter attachment pictured with the puke green -- oops, make that "Silver Sage" Kitchen Aid mixer on page 24. Now, who might like something like that?

Does it come with a free pie?

Unless it's a freebie, I won't be getting one soon. : (

It's free!

Oh, well. Mine is standing on my counter at this moment. I got mine refurbished at the outlet store many years ago.

Is there a reason to get the Very Expensive Kitchen Aid pasta roller/cutter stuff rather than a cheaper freestanding machine?

Cause then you have a Kitchen Aid? I wouldn't get them because we already have a pasta roller and a Kitchen Aid, but if we didn't? Hooboy. Gimme!

I have a Kitchen Aid... The question is if I should get the attachment pasta rollery things or a standalone thingy.

Honestly I bet it would be easier for you as a single to use the attachment. When you make pasta using the manual machine you're limited in length and things because you only have two hands and one needs to always be turning the crank, always. I don't think the difference in price for the attachment is that much more then our hand crank machine anyways. The expensive part is the Kitchen Aid.:)

It would depend...

It'd depend on how much you want to make pasta. If the answer is a lot, I'd go for the powered rollers. If not much, I'd go with the hand machine. I've only really used powered rollers, and it's nice having both hands free.
