In the rain

Last night, after driving home late from work in a downpour seasoned with hail, I bailed on attending the STC Happy Hour at the Times coffee house, came home and dashed into the house in an interlude of less rain. Shortly after sitting down to the computer, a sharp sizzle lit up the outdoors, and the sharp crack of thunder was followed by the honking of a car alarm in a silver VW parked across the street.
