Jan. 16th, 2002 03:21 pmTook a sick day. Head cold, achy kinda thing. Missing a birthday dinner tonight, damn, damn, damn.
The arowana must have been out of the tank too long. It died last night. Have it in a waste basket, and I think it's a bit too big.
Spent the day alternating between SciFi and FX. Sitting here drinking OJ.

Date: 2002-01-16 02:13 pm (UTC)It sounds like the arowana was jumping out when there wasn't anyone down there (or they'd've heard him do it). But I know, from a lotta years experience with that kindof fish when I was a kid, you've gotta be really careful about not making sudden movements when in the same room as their tank. Also: don't ever wear red or similar bright clothing by the tank, especially.
My Dad was majorly into tropical fish when I was a kid and we had tanks all over the house, including at least a couple of nice arowanas over the years, that we would feed food (like shrimp) by hand. But it was always tragic if they'd jump, which I remember happened at least once.
