Winter Pea Porn
Dec. 23rd, 2005 12:59 pmIt's been a while since I've made Jane Grigson's Winter Pea Soup. It's still a WoW.
250 g (8 oz) split green peas
2 small onions, halved
~100 g (3-4 oz) frozen peas
150 ml (1/4 Imp Pt) milk
salt, pepper
6 tablespoons cream
1 good tablespoon butter
Put the split peas and onions on to boil with 1.5 l (2.5 Imp Pt) water. No salt. Cook until done. Blend. Toss in the frozen peas and blend until smooth. Put back over heat, add milk and seasoning. Reheat only to below the boiling point. Skim if necessary. Add cream & butter, serve. (You can easily skip all of the dairy.)
