Thong woke up around five and woke me up. The streets were filled with lights, gawkers and firemen. The apartment house on 26th and Harriet was smoking.

Yikes!

Reminds me of the St. Patty's night that a house ajoining Toad Hall's property burned. Came home from First Avenue, more than a little tipsy. Woke to see orange flames shooting out of the roof. That caught my attention. The deep thrum and engine rumble of the fire trucks had been going on for quite some time; it had woven itself into the soundtrack of my dreams.

Glad to hear this fire was further away. Hope everybody involved is okay.

The middle apartment

THe middle ground floor apartment on 27th appears to be toast. They'd plywooded over the window when we got back from a store run this morning. Still one TV van sitting outside it. Not sure if the rest of the aprtment building are still inside or not, although there are still cars parked in the lot. Not a good time to be home hunting in the first day of winter.

I saw the fire on the news when I was working my way through my morning routine - I was wondering if you & lsanderson & davidschroth had had your day started early, or otherwise interfered with, by it.

27th and Harriet were pretty cut off, but even the paper thunked against the front door pretty much at its usual time.

Around five, it would have been quite difficult to make it out of here.

I slept right through the whole thing, but there was certainly sufficient firetrucks, vans, etc. spread out all over the neighborhood. And, I'm much closer to the center than you are.
