Yesterday, I met Michael R. at the Caribou Coffee on 24th Street & Hennepin. He had an interview with a hunky guy who ustta work at the Outward (Upward?) Spiral Theater and is now kinda looking for work. We had talked about doing a movie or something, but instead, went off to find a place to eat in St. Paul. We bounced off Zander's Cafe (after a tour of Grand Avenue) because it's only open (on Selby) for brunch. We then went looking for an Italian place on Cleveland. And we found it, and it was open. So, we ate there. I did not realize until we left, that it was the new building for Restoranti Luci, which I'd eaten at once in the long ago when it was a hot place. The waiter we had was hot to look at, but rather slow in all other departments. It took forever for him to take our order, forever for the food to come, and forever for the check to arrive. And, had he not been wearing any clothes, I might have enjoyed it more. We were not in a hurry, but there is slow and there is unconscionably slow. I had an heirloom tomato soup with corn, a puttanesca pasta with two big shrimp or langoustines, and a glass of Chianti. Michael also had the soup and a bowl of spaghetti.

When we left, Michael pointed out the barber shop where he got his first haircut. It was then I saw the old Restoranti Luci sign and realized that I had been there before. Because the traffic was thick out of St. Paul when we headed over on 94, I snuck across the Ford Parkway. Michael mentioned that Dear Abby ustta live in the highrise where lee_oslee_os and hunnythistlehunnythistle now live.
