This morning
Apr. 11th, 2005 10:54 pmThis morning whilst I was trying to upload some pictures that I'd not uploaded yet from Vietnam, the computer started suddenly burning a DVD. I'd tried to burn a compendium of pictures so that Thien and Tin could view them on a DVD player while I was still in Saigon, but the whole process occupied hours and hours and hours of processor time. I interrupted it, not noticing that it had finished processing and was writing to DVD, and threw out the half-burned DVD to download some pictures from the camera. At some point, I tried to see if it would burn another without the 17 or so hours of CPU time, and started it off again. I thought, however, that I'd stopped it. I did not, that I'm aware of, retrigger the process, but suddenly, this morning, off it went to burn a DVD. What's more, it works both in a computer and in (at least one) DVD player here. OK, so I should have named the last two menus and the one little short piano chord gets rather tiring, but it still shows 500 pictures with (random) transitions, or it allows you to access the pictures through the DVD remote. Now I need to compile the rest and send them off to Vietnam.
I've ordered a 6/4 pin firewire cable so I can download the film to the main computer. Master plan 1B is to edit video and interspace pictures. Knowing my phenominal abilities to procrastinate, just compiling the remaining pictures (if there's less than 500) is probably a safer bet.
