At the Illusion
Feb. 26th, 2005 12:35 pmLast night, I went to Murderers at the Illusion. It's a one act play, basically three monologues -- confessions of people. I imagine it's very tough to do. I really enjoyed it. The writing is quite witty, the monologues are refreshing, and the acting was great. It takes place in a gated retirement community and involves confessions of murder, so if you don't like discussions of life, aging, and death, or cannot bear to hear a few four-letter words spoken on stage, it's probably not for you. Otherwise, I highly recommend it. For no clear reason, I kept thinking one of the actors was channeling Mary Kay -- "We dropped subtle hints to the other women in the community whose men she had her eye on -- 'She's fucking your husband.'"
