Seems as if January 1 wasn't that long ago.

Laurel's updated the main Minicon 37 website.

MNSTF meeting way off in Wisconsin
this afternoon. OK, so it's sorta just across the river and over the hills a bit
from Stillwater. Andrew's driving, we're
gonna have the car full of fans, and it will be a great time.

Last time I went there, also the
first, was to a big music party. Either their directions or MapsOnUs involved a
short cut around the town of Stillwater, and I drove around lost in the hills
around Stillwater for an amazingly long time. It's not that big of a town, there
is only one bridge across to Wisconsin, and it's smack in the middle of the
town. I finally just headed west, hit the main highway, and made it to the
bridge. No more quick routes that take forever. Of course, going while it's
still daylight might help. Stillwater, is, after all, a disgustingly 'pretty'
town. But, as long as it isn't summer, the tourists are not bumper to bumper.
The main highway works just fine, thank you very much for the shortcut, but no
thanks.

Received a quote from Home
Depot last night after I got home. (I paid 'em $30.00 to 'measure' my basement
for an engineered wood floor. Engineered means it's mostly plywood or
composition with a thin veneer over the top. It's better when its gotta go over
cement. The whole floor basically floats, and they've gotta level out the cement
a bit here and there. well, OK, all over the place.) The company what measured
it, didn't recommend that the wood floor be installed, and I called, and called,
and called to try and get the bid out of 'em. It came in, but it came in very
high. I've got another bid coming out Sunday to look at it, but Home Depot has
an interest free offer that expires Sunday night. Damn, damn, damn.

During this, ATI, whose All In Wonder Radeon shed a capacitor/resistor/funny
small canned shaped object last Saturday whilst I wuz moving it from one box to
another, is giving me a run-around. I told 'em when I filed the warrantee
request that their website's instructions for finding the bios number sure
didn't help me. So far, they've told me twice that the number is wrong. I told
'em I was guessing. Apparently, they know by the serial number what bios number
is wrong, but not that the other bios number is right. I scanned the card and
sent it off to them, asking them to outline the bios chip with the bios code on
it. Have not heard back from that e-mail. Grr. I can't watch my digital cable TV
from my main box. I'm just pissed. And, I'm paying four bucks a month for the
cable box here. The old original ATI All In Wonder Pro locks up slicker than
snot under Windows 2000. I can keep flipping the remote, but it's damned hard
to read e-mail or surf the web at the same time.
