Date: 2005-01-10 05:48 pm (UTC)In other words, a real journalist wouldn't have been played like that. These guys, instead, destroyed what was left of CBS's credibility. Not only do they deserve to be fired, they deserved to be fired much faster.
The cost of being a journalist is the more important the story is, the more carefuly you have to be that you have the story right. They failed to even do the basic fact checking on these documents.
They screwed up, and the damage they did to CBS (and to Democracy in the US as a whole) is huge.
