I suggested to Laura Jean that she tweak the radiator valves to even out the heat. I forgot to add that you never touch critical systems in an old house on a weekend and never ever on a holiday...
And here I was thinking your name was anything but Mudd, given my encounter with my mail carrier as I was leaving to pick up the duck....
I tweaked a radiator valve once, turning off the heat in an overly-toasty bedroom. It immediately started leaking. Fortunately, the leak stopped as soon as I reopened it. I then left the smallest bedroom in its overly-toasty state for years, unwilling to risk yet another first floor ceiling. Not knowing this, decadentdave turned it off after sweltering in that room one too many nights. To my delight, there were no leaks, and no problems. That was a win, albeit a much-delayed one.
