Last night I ran out and caught Flowers from the Heartland and 416 at the Central Standard Film Festival.

Flowers is about people sending flowers the brief flurry of gay weddings in San Fransisco. It's very well done.

416 is about Nebraska passing an anti-gay marriage ammendment. It's pretty scary. I'd heard it was not as well done, but I enjoyed it. Although, it's trying to just present the sides -- Xian bigots vs the fags and dykes. I'm sure getting the film made is in itself a major miracle. Perhaps the scariest bit is the LDS guy commenting (after he'd won) that they just want to reach out an convert the misguided gays...

Yeah, that guy was nuts. He really really REALLY wants to talk to some gay guys!

I just thought that it was no longer about 416 about a half-hour through it. The proposition passed, then there were some short interviews with the principals...then it just kept going! It would have been a strong short, but as a feature I found it very lacking.

Flowers from the Heartland was great, though.
