Still my sister's birthday

When I got to the Stribune today and saw that the front page headline was the religious revival meeting the Stribune and out state government (including our abysmal Secretary of State) pulled off on the capitol grounds this weekend, I called up and canceled my subscription.

I got pissed when they refused to run the Gay Pride ad with two men kissing, but I didn't call to cancel. Put the two together, and it's past time.

Yes,

The woman who took the cancellation notice tried to sell me the Sunday. It was a long wait to speak with her on their voice mail, but I decided it was a short compromise I wasn't going to take. She did take my complaints down, so at least provided the illusion that it was going into some kinda statistical database...

Both of them get real local news so wrong I class them on the level as NOLa's Times-Picayune. That being the worst paper I have ever read. Larry, sports and classifieds are all the PTB at the Red Star care for, at least as far as I can tell. But then all the local media has to play kissy or get left out.

I agree about the Strib, but haven't canceled yet. May do.

As for the state government, J says that the government can't refuse the use of the grounds, on the same terms that they allow it to other groups, to a religious group. Of course, they must allow the use of the grounds equally to all religious groups; they can't pick and choose.

Yess

But, I'd suspect their availability, billing and fee statements might vary, and I'd guess that a Buddhist or Islamic group might have a wee bit of trouble booking it, and a Wiccan group would find it quite impossible.

I'm also not convinced that the Stribune really had to run it as headline news on Monday, even if it was a slow news day.
