In the morning sun

This morning, when I went out to get the papers, a cardinal flew into the catalpa tree. It stayed there, bright red in the morning sun. I went inside to get the camera, and when I returned, while I could hear the bird, I could not see it, and I stepped up to the front steps. Then it flew off to the elm on the street and my hopes for a picture through the catalpa were nil.
