Jun. 11th, 2004 04:58 amMiss Richfield 1981, who is kicking up her heels on the right coast, is in no way responsible. In fact, she asked that we return the pompoms after the performance in the interests of Lutheran midwestern frugality. I, of course, did not return mine, preferring to keep it as a memento of Miss Richfield and her performance at the Illusion Theater. How was I to know that it would attack my seat belt buckle?
Last night at long last, I took the car out to Hopkins Honda to have the buckle replaced. I've purchased several devices, all of which failed, to try to remove the offending piece of pompom, but all to no avail. The last time I took the car to Hopkins, they ordered the part. I got there ahead of time (a first for me) and expected to wait in the office until it was finished. "Two hours" they said. "Can we call you at your home number? We're running late on the floor."
I called Thong to pick me up and we went light hunting at Creative Lighting in St. Paul. Thong, who refuses to take anything to the reuse center, is a shoppaholic of resale and thrift stores. I think he was aghast at the prices, and while we looked at several, we bought nothing. I called as we drove back to Mpls, but no message from Hopkins Honda. Still, in fact, no message from Hopkins Honda.
