It's time to start writing the wrong year on those checks I don't write no more.

Happy Western New Year!

I wrote the correct date on the check I wrote today, and congratulated myself for it.

I get the first one or two right and then drop my guard and immediately put the wrong year on the next one.

Maybe "Happy Civil New Year" would be more accurate than "Western", since 97% of the world's population uses it for legal purposes:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civil_calendar

Of course "Happy Gregorian New Year" would be the most accurate.

I do like reading about calendar systems. I like this one:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_Hijri_calendar

It inserts leap days as necessary to align with the observed tropical year, without the use of a fixed formula as the Gregorian calendar does. It is therefore in some sense "more accurate" than the Gregorian calendar. I don't know you plan for the future when you aren't sure which years will be leap years, and I'm sure the answers are fascinating.
