Well, I'm not sure that was fun

I swapped out a hard drive for an SSD in an HP laptop. The whole goddamned thing had to be taken apart, two feet pried off, to get all the screws out, and then they had a fancy assed harness on the hard drive and a ribbon cable to connect it to the motherboard.
Anyway, it's mostly back together, except for the optical drive, and it's working. I just cloned the drive by putting it in a cloning bay and letting it run. The end result was all the partitions were visible, and I could not do much with them. I had to download some software to yank the recovery partitions so I could expand the main partition.
What's wrong with a nice little compartment for the hard drive and standard SATA connectors?
