In recent times, the 5 ft^3 GE chest freezer decided to give up the ghost and turn into a warming oven (for some values of warm). I scoured the interwebbies for a replacement, not too big, not too small, and not too expensive I thought. I thought I'd found the not too big, not too small but not the not too expensive fit in a 4.3 ft^3 Danby model. So, I waited the wait of the cheap to see if it would go on sale over the Black Friday, Cyber Monday weekend. Each day of the holiday weekend, I sent Google out to find it, and it usually came back at the same price. Then I found it at a steep, steep discount on the Walmart website, and I bought it there. Well, later that same night I got an email announcing the order had been canceled because of the price mistake... So, yesterday Walmart sends me a $25 gift certificate instead of the freezer that I've been lusting after.

I think that is technically illegal; if they advertised it for a price and you made a purchase, they can't cancel the order. You could check with the State's Attorney's office. But it would be aggravation, and that alone would keep me from doing it.

Pretty sure if they can "prove" that it was a mistake that they don't have to honor it. I'd take the $25 and run.

I don't know if this is just a Texas thing, but our local meat markets often have a deal where if you buy a certain quantity of beef (like a side), they'll give you a chest freezer. Don't know if that's even viable in your area, and it's probably not the best chest freezer ever, but it's what i'm going to do once I get the garage cleared out!
