Dec. 10th, 2003 08:30 amMyra's Birthday
Yesterday, I got up at the B&B in the gay ghetto, wandered across the street to Caribou, and downed a double espresso and scone. The scone was not good. I also wrote out a birthday card for my cousin. Then, after pasting a stamp on it, stuck it in a mailbox on the way to the eL. Took the eL downtown and wandered around for a bit, Sony store (still lusting after a camcorder & laptop), Crate & Barrel, even the Dark Side store (where I got a picture of the whole staff assembled inside on the stairs waiting for the opening hour).
After a coffee, I grabbed a cab and went to the Art Institute where I waltzed through the Manet and the Sea exhibit. Found one box of Christmas cards, resisted buying a tie I liked and massive amounts of stained glass, a took a taxi back to boystown. At night, Halstead is great and Halstead is fine, but it sucks at restaurants open during the day. I finally remembered the way to Clark and ate at a Cajan restaurant that was OK. (The hot food seemed appropriate to the wet and foggy weather.)
I went to Midway a bit early, and, like an idiot, checked my bag. When I got to the gate, the earlier flight had not left, but because I checked my bag, I could not get on it. The flight I was to leave in in 1.5 hours later, was sitting on the runway in MSP. Mutter, mutter, late...
David and Laura were waiting at the airport to give me a ride home, where I waded through the snow and into the house. On the ride back from the airport, we smoffed. Appropriate since we'd both just returned from SMOFcon.
