I think I'm changing my mind on voting and producing an ID. But first, I think we need to level the field the field a bit.

Since no one is interested in preventing people from voting or going back to the days of poll taxes, we need to have any state that requires an ID for voting subsidize the cost of getting a voter ID for those people who do not have executive secretaries to perform the task for them.

I think $100 an hour would be adequate compensation for travel time and time spent writing letters and dealing with state bureaucracies. I realize it's not much in terms of CEO pay, but I do think first-class plane tickets should be covered as well in cases where individuals have to travel to other states to deal with state bureaucracies. Of course, travel to and from the airport, bus depot, and so forth would have to be covered just like it is in and expense report, along with meals and other entertainment expenses whilst traveling to obtain the necessary IDs.

All costs for documents, private investigators, and legal fees should also be covered, of course.

All in all, I don't think it too steep a price to pay to defend such an inalienable right as the right to vote, and, after all, election integrity is paramount, at least to all the states that keep claiming voter ID is necessary. So, let them put their pocketbook where their mouth is.
