This is dumb. Elvis was an idol for the Silent Generation, not the Boomers. And I certainly wasn't going to movies like "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" when I was 8 years old. If we First Wave Boomers were aware of Elizabeth Taylor at all it was for "National Velvet."

I think my first significant awareness of Taylor--though certainly I had heard of her before--was Cleopatra.
