I find it interesting that the one question that placed me squarely in Chicago was the one for type of shoes worn for exercise. I grew up with "gym shoes," so that's the option I gave. As I got older, the cool kids had "deck shoes," but that wasn't in the list.

It didn't show me the map until I clicked "Show least similar." It showed me that, then toggled with ease to most similar.

Huh. Those 25 years in Minneapolis seem to have had their effect. Two of my 3 most similar city maps had all of Michigan in dark blue least similar tones. My most distinctive city answers were Madison, Minneapolis, and Milwaukee. My dialect is pretty darned solidly Wisconsin, where I've never lived. Maybe it was all those miles I drove through it.

It took quite a while for the total map the show up, but the map for most common usage for each answer showed up next after each question, along with the next question. It was the gym shoes-only map I was referring to.

The end-of-quiz map placed me at Aurora, IL, or Grand Rapids, MI, or a third unlikely place I don't recall.

This may be the only quiz I have ever taken that had enough answers that I could be accurate.

That said, apparently living in Massachusetts for four years noticeably marked my speech, but really, if you believe the maps, I'm from Michigan. I had no idea.

I only saw one question that I thought might put you mid-Atlantic...

That long sandwich?

A couple of others may have put me somewhat further north, and, um, actually, I did graduate school in upstate New York, so okay then.
