Fascinating. I didn't grow up eating pork because my mom didn't like it, so perhaps that's why. I mostly do like it, but remember some roasted pork once that I simply couldn't eat because the smell made me gag, although no one else thought anything was wrong.

Otoh, I've enjoyed all of the wild boar dishes I've had, and can taste a distinct, wild boar flavor in dishes as diverse as ragu and salami.
