I went out to dinner last night with Thong, my cousin Myra, and my sister Karen. I wanted to go to Levain, which Minnehaha B has been recommending. They're not open on Monday nights. Then I thought the 3-Muses. They're not open on Monday night. Then I suggested Solera. They're open on Monday night, but they would not take an early reservation. So, I called Vincent's and got a reservation in spite of an influx of some odd religious cult that seems to have taken over the convention center.

My sister and cousin managed to get sidetracked getting here, so we arrived downtown a bit late. My sister had to put up with three- count 'em - three back and and front seat drivers to get there. I've had the tasting menu there twice before, always in the kitchen. It's the whole table or no tasting menu, so we went with the tasting menu. My cousin and I had the wine as well. It was really good! We got a half of champagne at the end with the desserts to celebrate my sister's impending birthday (August 9). Dessert was a baby chocolate souffle, creme brule, and a baby bowl of berries.

Yes, that almost-a-Bishop was being feted on the balcony at Vincents even as we dined amongst a stangely elderly people (for goths) dressed much in black.
