Trader Joe's is close to finalizing a deal for a store on the corner of 27th Street and Lyndale Avenue in Lyn-Lake, according to the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal. More

AWESOME! That is a spot that could seriously use a TJ's.

Well that wouldn't suck.

(I don't like their bread, but do favor enough of their products that I tend to stock up a couple times a year. The nearest ones are 40-50 miles away....)

That would be considerably closer than the one that I currently go to in St. Louis Park.

I'm trying to think of what's in the current location. Would we be losing anything interesting?

Depends

On one side is a laundromat, closed Sunnyside Up, tea place and some other small stores. Other side is a strange store, and the Soo Art Gallery.

Sunnyside Up is *seriously* closed. What happened there?

Well that will certainly cause lots and lots of controversy in the neighborhood.

Opponents are very vocal about not wanting shops like Trader Joes. I have mixed feelings. Though I do not really shop there and have never been to one in town. The Wedge certainly didn't want them at the other proposed site, not sure how they will feel about this location. I do not think they will take away from the Wedge. I'm most leery about the Two Buck Chuck the community has worked hard to limit these bottom of the barrel cheep sources of alcohol because of the livability problems it has created in the past.

How horrible. I will continue my habit of buying my food from local stores and thereby supporting the local economy.
