At the rate I'm going through them, the lifespan of two boxes of checks may be greater than the estimated lifespan of the universe. Just saying is all.
Yep. I have ordered once since moving here 10 years ago, and I have a couple of books left. I couldn't bring myself to order another box with my new name, since the old ones work just fine, but I suppose I'll need to now.
That would explain why, after 2000, they didn't print the century on checks any more. (I understand why they stopped printing dates as __________19___ in the late 1990's, but not printing ________20___ starting in 2000 doesn't make sense.)
I may have more than two boxes left from the last order still.
I need them occasionally at Costco, and sometimes for convention registrations or to settle accounts with friends (Paypal takes a percentage, if you're set up to accept credit cards as most of us are).
Hmmm. I write them regularly to other collectors. To pay a small monthly rent. To pay a professional service fee. To pay the worker bees who do stuff around the house for us. For graduation presents, and sometimes other gifts.

Date: 2011-06-13 07:27 pm (UTC)I'm not sure where the box is, but at the rate I'm going, what's left in the current checkbook will last me there rest of the decade.
