Our almost local loon, Michele -- one "L" short of a full load -- Bachmann -- with an extra "N" for extra nuttiness, said something on TV last night. Now you can go and watch her if you want. We don't. We know she's crazy.

I watched a few minutes of it but couldn't take much more. That whole looking to the side thing was disconcerting but the sheer volume of lies coming from her mouth was worse.

You can always tell

It is no longer newsworthy if Michele Bachmann says something kooky, or Sarah Palin says something stupid, or a Tea Partier says something racist... That's just the stuff that happens on days ending in "Y."

Some group that specializes in fact-checking political statements said that they checked 13 of Bachmann's claims. 7 were false. 6 were ludicrously false. Of all the politicians they've ever checked more than two statements from, she's the only one never to score higher than "false".

At the end she lived up to our expectations by failing to accurately describe the events at Iwo Jima depicted in the famous statue. She referred to the Marines (that they are Marines is part of the point of the statue) as "these young, American GIs," and pronounced it "Eewa Jama." She sounded like a Sunday school teacher strung out on meth.

Not to be missed in related news is Chris Matthews going off about her on Hardball:
