Yesterday, I ate at Big E's Soul Food restaurant. It was great. They just got a good review in the Thursday Stribune, and according to the woman at the register, they're getting another one this Thursday.

I visited Sandy at Jones-Harrison this morning. We were not able to connect to the internet with their library computer. I just e-mailed their general e-mail address to see if I can get something started. It's been going on too long.

Eric said he saw you and spoke to you briefly. He was checking how late they were open, but when he and I went by there around 9:30, they had had to put signs on the doors saying "SOLD OUT" despite having intended to remain open until eleven.

I hope success does not sink them.

Yes, had we spoken more, I would have told him they were running low. Much of the menu was crossed out by 7:00 on Saturday.

Sometimes it's just a matter of adjusting the orders if they have enough room to store the food. If they don't have enough food, then it's a problem. There is an empty restaurant next door, but radically changing the size is a harder job. Their staff is just wonderful with people, or at least they were that Saturday night.

So, if you want to go, go early. Be prepared to take it home and eat it rather than eat at the restaurant. And get there before this Thursday.

Oh, yes, the staff has been wonderful every time we've been there. And it's easy enough to switch to takeout this time of year. I'm thinking we should try for off-times more, assuming they even have any.
