Snow

I have today off, which is itself a good thing. We also have an excess of snow blowers, which is itself a good thing this winter. Both cars are all-wheel drive, which is also a good thing today. This morning right around brekkies, a flock of cardinals was in the mock oranges. I've been watching cars get stuck trying to get into and out of the alley. It is still snowing. We may have reached the bottom of the current batch of Two Fowl Pho, which is not at all a good thing.

The Repugs have finally figured out to send pretty people out. It's an easier method of getting the well-off into the lifeboats. It doesn't start a panic, as they proceed to gut the bones of the empire. No one notices the gutting, because they're all fighting over the crumbs, terrified that somewhere, someone might have more crumbs than they do. Snow White's mother has become an air-head from north of Our Fair Cities, or the witch who bailed in Alaska. The princes tell tails of the sweet by and by -- how wonderful a world without taxes would be.

After new years, I always want to mix up a second big batch of chex mix. I don't follow the recipe, but I like the salty fishy tamarind garlic taste that I end up. On the other hand, if it's around, I eat it. Tonight, I succumbed and put a big batch on two sheet pans in the oven. It's toasting as I type. The timer goes off every fifteen minutes so I have to go down and stir it around and spin the sheet pans. The next rotation, I should switch pans from the top rack to the bottom rack. One of the features of the oven when I got it was that it would hold sheet pans. Of course, the only other thing I can think of that I ustta use sheet pans for was shortbread.
