Feb. 2nd, 2002 08:18 amOK, it woulda been so kewl to win a bid on an HP 4500. I want a color laser, if for no other reason that they make such kewl signs. Only trouble was, the one I bid on, was going to need some expensive replacements soon. And I've decided I just can't live without duplex printing any longer. And duplexers for a 4500 are about $500. Plus those printers are huge. And slow. We've got an 8500 at work, networked and duplexed. It seems like five minutes to warm up before printing the first sheet, then 2 sheets, pause, wait, 2 sheets, pause, wait. The color, however, is gorgeous. Black and white pages off the 4500 are really cheap. Partial color is around 8.5 cents per page. But I'm remaining solidly in the black and white world for now. IF and when I buy a digital camera, then I'll have to upgrade the color printers around here.
I suppose I should take the 4L apart and try to find what's blocking the small area. Probably a screw or something. Don't think it has a drum to scratch. I did take it apart once after I replaced the motor, but I could see nothing obvious. Didn't get into the laser assembly though, although I did accidentally when I replaced the motor--which was probably the source of my current problem.

Feb. 2nd, 2002 08:36 amDuplicate bridge was fun last night, even if I'd forgotten how to count cards. Really bad cards most of the way through the night. Then two good hands close to the end. Joyce bid a small slam on my suit at the last hand, and I went down one. Maybe shoulda played it better, but just could not see where to get that extra trick. Oh well. Had one hand with 8 cards in a minor. Bid five and made it. Made up for all the four and five count hands earlier in the evening.
