Overheard on MPR whilst driving in late to work yesterday, the Minneapolis Planetarium is doing a telescope extravaganza on the mall this evening where you can look through a telescope at things that, I'm gonna guess, are off somewhere in space.

Madness! How are they gonna look at fireworks with a telescope? And besides, I have a perfectly good telescope in my sunroom, and if I wanted to use it, I would. Hmm, the last time I tried to set off fireworks in the back yard, the neighbors did get kind of excited...

The memorial for Scott Imes will be held concurrent with (but not actually at) the Minn-stf pool party. They have reserved two adjacent poolside cabanas at the Radisson South. There will be signs posted at the hotel.

Well, missed the telescope and fireworks. Ran to Menards with my 16% off sack and picked up a few things like encapsulated halogen bulbs and AA & AAA batteries. (It's time to harvest the remotes again before the batteries start weeping.) Got one holiday card off to Scotland. And the rest are all here yet.

Printed out 100 of the MNSTF flyers at work on gold paper, and 25 registration forms on gray paper, which at least two people have suggested is too few. Every party so far, I've had a ton and used 3. I sent 100 to Worldcon and a whole box of envelopes, I got all except one registration form back, and that one was in the Duckie Box. It would be so pleasant to have to run to the front desk at the Radisson and ask them to copy more. Very.
