Nov. 17th, 2001 03:23 pm71 degrees fondly Fahrenheit on the seventeenth of November. I ran home from the grocery store with the top off. Note to self: don't go shopping for food the Saturday before Thanksgiving at the Lake Street Cub Foods. There are petunias blooming in the backyard, geraniums and salvia in the front.
Went over to Quang's this morning to get some chicken soup for Thong. A rice & chicken and a rice noodle & chicken for him for later. Also got spring rolls and a pork salad for myself, which I've still not eaten (except for one of the spring rolls). While I was waiting, I ran across to Shueng Hur to see if I could buy some honey and lemon for his throat. The store had limes, but no lemons. I wandered around looking for tea, but the seafood section caught my eye, with two big boxes of blue crabs waving their claws around, the frozen fish dumped in stainless steel stands, the mussles, clams & oysters under the spray of salt water, aquariums with tilapia and catfish. They had some early Texas navel oranges in, but the stuff on their shelf didn't look too interesting. Didn't buy anything, just went back to Quang's and picked up the food.
Headed back over to have James (some relation to Quang's) cut my hair. He's heading out to Lost Wages on Christmas, going to see O and do the coast quickly. He's also extremely cute.
Then, I headed out to Target to get a bed tray. I figure Thong's gonna be there even more than normal. Of course, he hates it, but that's another story. Also got him a big bottle of ibuprofen.
Then, I and half of south Minneapolis hit the Lake Street Cub Foods. I noticed earlier, while at Target that people seemed oddly peeved. We northerners always figure we're doing something seriously wrong if the weather's nice. And it's waay too nice out there. Mothers were fighting with children. Children were fighting with each other. It's supposed to be miserable outside, and we all know it, so we're trying to make up for it.
Ran around and stocked up as if the stores were going to be closed all week. Got him some small containers of ice cream. For whatever reason, he likes them. Got three different brands of bottled water. He things bottled water is kewl too. I also got him three different flavors of juice, orange, cherry and fruit, and a 12 pack of Hawaiian Punch. Tons of chicken (two whole, & a big legs and a big thighs), pork chops, and his beef soup bones. By the time I got up to the checkout, the lines stretched across the store. (Although, come to think of it, they usually do at that store.)
