Our Lady of the
Assassins (NY Times review, Stephen Holden) at the Lagoon last night. Cute
boys in it, they do take their clothes off, and the older guy... about my age,
wasn't exactly horrible. The nihilism seeped out slowly from the Catholic
churches, the barrios, the street gangs and beggars, the suicide quest of the
anti-hero. I was sitting in my usual fourth-row center seat, and a few times,
the video (high-def video) broke up. The young guys seemed not quite able to
pull off their rolls in a few places, but I think the director figured their
faces and their bodies would let them get by. There is the problem of magic,
doing the same thing twice and expecting different results, but heck, it is a
movie.
