Ah, the noise of jackhammers in the morning at 7:45. They're busting up the street outside the neighbor's house, where he had to replace the sewer a year or so ago. I take it SOMETHING WAS NOT DONE RIGHT, or else the sewer line caved in again.

L.I.E. is starting today at the Uptown. Joe & Andrew are planning on catching it Saturday. I have to talk to Neil, who I've offered to help move Saturday, over whether I can help on Sunday instead. He called while I was watching 12:01 last night. The movie, obviously where they stole Groundhog's Day, was much more interesting than I'd imagined. Plus, it used some nice psuedoscience as the plot device instead of just a stutter in time.

Evening

Just got back from the national premier of Kureishi's Intimacy at the Walker Art Center. Chased all over hell trying to find parking (too lazy to ride my bike), finally saw a Guthrie usher come and pull out of a spot, ran through the Guthrie, and down to a long line at the Walker. As I went up to the counter, a young woman asked if I had a ticket, and I said no, and she offered me a ticket, but I told her that I had no cash to pay for a ticket. No problem, she said. She worked for City Pages and was on a list... so in I went for free. This kinda thing does not usually happen to me.

Movie was very interesting, although the sound effects were loud and the accents decidedly uncut for American audiences. Kureishi introduced the film and gave some background to it. It very safely passed the nekkid man test, the nekkid man applying condom test, the nekkid man playing with himself test, and the nekkid man playing with his wife's undies, even the lead actress applying herself to certain parts of his anatomy that you usually don't see in American movies, well regular American movies. Kelly woulda loved it! Very glad I went.
