The play, Autistic License, premiered in 2007 at Illusion Theater and has returned every year for Autism Awareness Month. It has toured to communities throughout the Upper Midwest. Now it is also a movie and was just named the Best Educational Film of the 2010 International Family Film Festival!
Autistic License is a brave and vivid portrait of a real life family living with and loving their autistic son. Written by Stacey Dinner-Levin, it is based on her family's story. Her husband, Michael Paul Levin, portrays their autistic son in both the play and the movie.
Autistic License: The Movie is coming to Illusion for two screenings only on Friday, April 30 at 7pm and Saturday, May 1 at 2pm. Tickets are $5. Discussions will follow each screening. Copies of the DVD of Autistic License will be available to purchase for $25.
