I've long assumed that -- given the involvement of only informed & consenting adults -- the only important reason I should or need to know about the sexual orientation or activities of other people is if I want to have sex with them (and stand some chance of doing so). This simplifies my Record-Keeping enormously.
(Abstract curiosity, and a desire to understand people as well as possible, may be _good_ reasons, but they're not _important_ ones.)
