A Memo from Miss Richfield 1981
RE: Richfield and Rybak at Boom!
You can call him R.T., but I call him every Tuesday for coffee. He is my new friend and our next Mayor of Minneapolis. I'll be joining a gaggle of gays and friends at Boom! between 8:30 and 10 p.m. Thursday, October 4. You will get to meet R.T. up close and personal, just the way I like it!
Tell your friends! I look forward to seeing you Thursday.
Fondly,
Miss Richfield 1981
WoW! Such an opportunity! And he (R.T.) has such blue eyes...
Went to the local tapas restaurant, La Bodega, last night with Bruce, Karen and a friend. They are doing a review of it. Now Bruce and Karen's favorite 'local' tapas bar is in Chicago (city, not avenue), and I ate there with them last year at Chicon. I can understand their enthusiasm for the place there, but I can't walk to it from my house, which is a big plus after we finished the second bottle of wine. We ordered four rounds of tapas each, one dessert, and one plate of olives. (The olives wuz free in Chicago.) Overall, the food here was good. About one dish out of every round was not so hot, and one or two was striking. The green beans with olive oil & garlic was wonderful, the potatoes with aioli was as awesome. We started with an Italian Valpolicella, which tasted fine until we switched to a Spanish Rioja, which had a higher acid content, tasted much brighter, and went better against the oil and garlic. We pretty much cleaned every plate, and got the sauces out of all the plates (the bread was best used as a sponge to give it some flavor), so even the worst of the picks got et. On the down side, what would be an inexpensive dinner munch in Spain is expensive in Almost Uptown. The dessert flan was great.
The good news is that I still have a job. The bad news is that the area around my cube has become a wasteland and we got pay cuts. The company I work for does revenue management for large hotels. Large hotels are not booming right now. Whoda thunk it in a Republican administration?
